Drawing-Origins

Big drawing task.

Cracks

From my sketchbook I think you can tell that there is a strong pattern that has emerged and that is line and shapes… which has lead me into looking at surfaces. From scanning my first French knots into the computer this has taken me into looking at road surface which I fell across whilst walking into university one day.

I think I could improve on my working methods as I think everyone always can, at the moment I think mine is time management, being able to set myself little deadlines and tasks for myself and being able to stick to them. I think maybe making more rules for me would help. So next time I’m going to try these things out to see how that works. As I found when we had the task of 15 drawing in 2 hours, it got me thinking that you can get a lot done in that short amount of time if you put your mind to it.
From the tutorials I have found that I haven’t really got much feedback, peers haven’t really commented. Not sure if that’s a good thing or a bad but however, the work I’ve been doing has given me enough to carry on.
At first I think I was scared of the white pages but through the drawing classes I think that wore off pretty quick. I think it was just because I havent seen pages like that for quite a while and needed to get back stuck in. I’m always worried about showing my work to others, but think I find it easy now we have tutorials as a group, as I’m doing it every week.
