Sampling-Intentions

Samples - Creating surfaces with a range of cross stitch sizes, as well as using torn up fabrics instead of the usual treads.

Although I like this idea and I feel I have created some interesting textures, I would like to try and make them  more 3 dimensional and shapely by pulling threads and puckering.

Sampling-Intentions

Here I have been experimenting with print from ink with bark onto different types of fabrics. I have done this as I wanted to find out what shapes and patterns this made.

I then tried this out with puff binder.

Bark-Intentions

After researching artists for inspiration this week I found a student Steven Hsiao and he gave me an idea to stripe bark off tree stumps. Here are some photographs showing what I found underneath after doing this.

Artist Influence-Intentions

I have found this website on google and found it very interesting as it shows current work from artists and students.
http://blog.artsthread.com/2012/10/ldf12-designersblock-there-kingston-university-ma-design/kingston-4/

I found the following work on here.

Lindsay Taylor
 Chloe Mccormick and NODH

Eszter Burghartdt

 Alexandria Coe
 Ali Matsumoto
 Steven Hsiao
 Jose Romussi
 Rebecca Lefevre
Pauline Easby
 Wangui Wanjau
 Rachel Brumer

From these pieces of work they have given me ideas to try some type of printing, dying, mark and texture making as well as using embroidery with mixed media.

Mark Making-Intentions

Mark making with dye techniques. Instead of just using the marks from the tree barks, I have decided to make some marks of my own to see what usual unplanned marks I could create.

I plan to use the shapes made from these mark in my own work. I may use them in some sort of layering.
