EXPLORING - Eden Project

I had seen what the Eden project looked like, but nothing prepared me for the strange looking domes,inside was so real, so amazing. It simple took my breath away… quite literally in the rainforest, it was so hot. The Eden project was somewhere I'de always wanted to go mainly because nature, plants and the environment interests me. It was just so amazing. There were just so many things explore.

The exotic flowers and textures, the wall of sunflowers, the vegetable garden, the giant bee and the dancing women attached to a balloon in the rainforest, a little like a fantasy land.

'Infra_MANC provides us with a chance to look at the processes involved in the procurement, marketing and delivery of key infrastructural projects of the post-war era.  The Mancunian Way, the never realised Picc-Vic tunnel, the Guardian Exchange and fanciful dreams of a city centre heliport will all be presented using artefacts found and recovered from the various archives and museums of the region.'

Samples-Sampling Unit

These are some photographs of my final samples. If I were to do this project again I would take a deeper look into colour and would not use the colour I did. However I would look at some of the same techniques as I think exploring using elastic and embroidery further could be interesting. 

Experimenting-Sampling Unit

I have been experimenting in my sampling this week by using mixed media's as well as using techniques using free hand embroidery and shirring elastic. 

Artist Influence-Antony Gormley-Sampling Unit

Photography taken from a trip to Crosby Beach in Liverpool. I am partially interested in these sculptures as I find it interesting how the weather and environment has changed them into these beautiful pieces of natural art. 

Experimenting-Sampling Unit

This is my work after a layer of plaster of Paris has been applied. 

This piece of work is where I have used shirring elastic in the bobbin and free hand embroidery to create a bubble effect surface. 

Artist Influence-Tapies-Sampling Unit

My inspiration has come from the artist Tapies who uses mixed media. I intend to use mixed media's within my own work to create similar textures and surfaces.
