When I first started the project I did not have a clue where
to start. I didn’t know where I had been that could inspire the work I was
about to do. It seemed so broad I found it a little scary. When I decided I was
going to choose Cornwall the Eden project, I had lots of imagery and thought
that this could be a good starting point, as well as it being one of my
favourite places, although it still took me a long time to get into it. I wasn’t
sure what I would do, I wanted to do something that was different to what I
usually do, but doing this by the skills I had already gained from my previous
workshop.
I think I could have used my sketchbook better and
documented more of the work that I have found in my research. I also think that
from start off well on the group blog it became more difficult in the middle of
the project, remembering to blog to both group and personal blog. I think I
should have made myself write on blog every day and maybe this would have
helped me within my other work such as my sketchbook.
If I was to do this project again I would get stuck into the
project straight away, I think unfortunately thinking about the project didn’t
make a good start. I would also think more about scale, not forget that this is
for a building of great size. I would have looked into the hidden parts of
gardens sooner as this is when I felt that I had some direction with my
project.
I am pleased that I continued with embroidery and that I
have been able to explore more with different feet, as well as teaming with
mixed media. I like how I have showed my samples I think it shows a clear view
of my work and also believe that it flows with imagery to show my journey of
work. If I was to do the project again I would have done more sampling to
further my ideas.
I was quite pleased with my final designs and thought that
photo-shop helped me express my ideas.
