This week I have been to the digital print room and printed my patterns on a silk viscose, which I particularly liked, this has almost given a different feel to the patterns by the distortion the circles get from being printed on such fabric which I feel gives it a looser feel. Printing on this fabric can also appear to make the colours more muted and give it a more luxurious feel. I feel the fabrics I have been currently working with definitely say fashion but I would like to stretch these fabrics by finding more unusual media. I have been using the prints this week to create samples for my series and have done these by covering buttons and using plastics as well as mixing it with my hand cut sequins. This works as I feel the hand process of cutting the circles gives it a more organic feel as they are not all perfectly circle and I quiet like that they are not. The sequins have been taking me longer than I thought but I feel the process is good and it getting quicker with practice. I also find the contrast between the beautiful silk and plastic laminates interesting with experimentation of weights.
